"We had the idea of buying our first condo soon after we got married knowing nothing about the process or the market. In the summer of 2023, we started talking to friends who had bought before, visited open houses and put a giant map of Chicago on the wall to help us narrow down the location. In August, we saw an ad for the First Time Home Buyer’s Happy Hour Seminar hosted by Jovanka and thought, what a great idea! We attended the session and booked an intro zoom call with Jovanka, and then the buying process really took off for us.
As we were heading into the fall season, Jovanka shared with us the market stats that we were going into a low inventory season, so we had our minds open. If we found the place we loved, we’d go for it, if not, we’d just renew our lease. We had clear timelines that we shared with Jovanka, so everyone was on the same page. Luckily, we found a condo we really liked and entered the negotiation phase. Jovanka played a key role, helping us find the starting point, and communicating back and forth with the sellers until we reached an agreement. Since it was the fall of 2023 and interest rates were quite high, there were no other buyers, so we didn’t have any competition – just the us and the sellers. I couldn’t imagine trying to outbid other buyers and how much more stressful that kind of negotiation could be.
We are very grateful that we went to that seminar and met Jovanka because we had a great experience buying a condo. Jovanka is so knowledgeable and open; her communication style is above and beyond. She is always available and explained to us how the process works and was helpful during every step.
